The DW-500 is a cleaning system for biodiesel. It uses the special ion-exchange resin Lewatit GF-202 of the company Lanxess to remove small impurities that still remains in the biodiesel after transesterification and glycerin separation.
Cleaning is required to satisfy the standard EN 14214. The biodiesel subsequently passes two DryWash columns, where the biodiesel must percolate through the Lewatit resin. The DryWash System is the better alternative to the traditional water wash method. It has several advantages:
- No sedimentation tanks or expansive centrifuges necessary
- Faster process, because no sedimentation is necessary
- Less room space is need
- No water distillation process required
The DW-500 includes a special operation mode to recycle the used resin by methanol. That way, the resin has a life time of more than 5 years.
The DryWash System includes an operator panel that makes the DW-500 a standalone system. An operator can control and parameterize the system
through function keys and a numeric keypad. Additionally, three tricolored annunciator lights and a text display indicate the current status of the system.
