After the transesterification of vegetable oil to biodiesel, glycerin deposit in the sedimentation tank is separated. The Glycerin is drained after a sedimentation time of 24 hours. Water washing is used to remove residues of methanol, glycerin, and catalyst from thebiodiesel. Washing water is sprayed on with a fine drizzle and settles down on the container bottom. Additionally, air is let in from the bottom, so the biodiesel is thoroughly mixed with water. One washing run requires 200 liters of water.
